Abstract :

This is a comparative study of two popular inhalational agents. This study was conducted to compare hemodynamic changes during maintenance of anaesthesia and recovery characteristics with Sevoflurane and Isoflurane when administered with oxygen(O2) and nitrous oxide(N2O) in patients undergoing surgeries of 2–3 hours duration under general anaesthasia. 50 patients of ASA grade 1 and 2 were randomly devided into two groups and pre medicated with Inj. Glycopylorate, Inj. Midazolam, Inj. Diclofenac sodium and Inj. Ondensetron. After preoxygenation, they were induced with Inj. Thiopentone sodium and Inj. Scoline and intubated with proper sized cuffed endotrachial tube(ETT).They were maintained with 50% O2 + 50% N2O+ Sevoflurane (0.5–2.0%) / Isoflurane (0.5–1.5%) + Vecuronium omide. Vecuronium was repeated with use of peripheral nerve stimulator. Reversal was done with Inj. Glycopylorate and Inj. Neostigmine. Observation and results of this study have been presented with the aids of tables and in form of percentages along with short descriptions. Results have been discussed and compared with similar studies published.
