Abstract :

The objective of the present study was to study the prevalence of peripheral vascular disease in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients.  A total of 100 T2DM patients ( 67 males and 33 females) were studied for detection of peripheral vascular disease( PVD) by Ankle Brachial Index( ABI). It was observed that 13% cases were positive for PVD. Long duration of Diabetes, Hypertension, and Obesity were found to be predisposing factors. Studies on PVD in T2DM patients are of clinical importance as PVD is a strong predictor of Cardiovascular Ischemic events.
