Dr. K. Selvi

Abstract :

Valuation is the process of estimating what something is worth. Items that are usually valued are a financial asset or liability. Valuations can be done on assets (for example, investments in marketable securities such as stocks, options, businessenterprises, or intangible assets such as patents and trademarks) or on liabilities (e.g., bonds issued by a company). The first task of financial valuation is to select the information relevant to the decision under consideration to the total information contained in the financial statement. The second step is to arrange the information in a way to highlight significant relationship. The final step is interpretation and drawing of inference and conclusions. Financial statement is the process of selection, relation and evaluation.
