Abstract :
The right to health is closely associated with the right to life and indispensable for the exercise of most other human rights. To achieve right to health access to medicine is very much essential. It focuses on sustainable, universal access to essential medicines through the development of national medicines policies. Medicine is needed for people when they become afflicted with any disease. So the availability and affordability of medicine is essential for the health of the people. It is the duty of the government in classifying the essential medicines, determining the quality of medicine, their supply and checking whether they are reaching the needy people. No government can excuse themselves that they don’t have enough funds for providing its citizens with healthcare. It is their primary duty and they have a legal obligation to provide essential drugs.
