Abstract :

Male swiss albino mice were exposed for 90 days to diethylnitrosamine and carbon tetra chloride to develop environmentally available carcinogenic chemical induced hepatocarcinoma. DEN+CCl4 exposed  group were treated with 8mg/kg body weight berberine and 250mg/kg body weight SAC in individual and as well as  in combination to determine the efficacy in the amelioration of liver tissue carcinoma. After 30 and 60 days of drug  treatment stress specific biochemical parameters such as ALT, AST, ALKP, GGT activities, TBARS content and histopathological tissue analysis were performed. Data evaluation portrayed effective removal of chemically induced hepatocarcinoma since activities of enzymatic biomarkers and histological liver tissue structure were similar to control animal  after SAC and berberine combined treatment.
