An Overview of Knowledge Management in Library Information Sector

Abstract :

Knowledge Management (KM) refers to a multi–disciplined approach to achieve organizational objectives by making the best use of knowledge. Knowledge has become a vital source for social development.The demand for information and knowledge are increasing step by step. In addition it has become the key concern for liarians and liaries. This paper deals with what is knowledge Management? Knowledge Management in liary and Information sector, Services provided by Knowledge Management in Liaries. It will also examine the role of liarians/liaries in knowledge management and suggests that liarians/liaries in the digital and knowledge age should be in charge of knowledge management in their respective organisations in order to leverage the intellectual assets and to facilitate knowledge creation.
