Analytical Expression of Concentration of Substrate And Oxygen in Excess Sludge Production Using Adomian Decomposition Method

Abstract :

A mathematical model of excess sludge production from water treatment plants is discussed. The specific growth rate is given by a Monod–type kinetic for two substrates namely carbon source and oxygen. The model is based on system of nonlinear differential equations containing nonlinear terms related to rate equation of substrate and oxygen. Approximate analytical expressions for the two substrates have been derived for all the values of the parameters using the Adomian decomposition method. These analytic results are compared with the numerical results and a good agreement is observed.
