Assessment of patient contentment for esthetics, comfort, mastication & retention for removable partial denture: Retrospective study

Abstract :

Background: Teeth loss becomes increasingly common in elderly population and the effective demand for prosthetic care increases, as the patients want to restore the oral health function, esthetics and mastication. However the main drawback of acrylic resin are lack of adaptability and stability, poor esthetics, post insertion problems, unsatisfactory transverse and impact stråength1,2,3 Aim: The aim and objective of the study was to evaluate the patient’s satisfaction regarding esthetics, comfort, retention and function Material and methods: The present study was conducted in the department of prosthodontics. For the present study 100 patients were assessed and the patients were explained in detail about the questionnaire and were asked to fill the questionnaire when they reported to the department. The acceptance of denture was marked as excellent, good, regular and bad Results: After evaluating the questionnaire it was found most of the patients were giving excellent results regarding function esthetics, mastication and retention, while few of the patients were giving bad reviews. Conclusion: It was found that treatment of majority of patients with good mental attitude was found excellent and only few cases were not happy with the prosthesis
