Abstract :

 Aim & objective: To find the association of age, gender, family characteristics and behaviour of child during first visit to a dentist. Background: Dental fear in children has been recognized as a source of problems in patient management. Information in the origin of dental fear and uncooperative behaviour in the child patient prior to treatment procedures may help the pediatric dentist plan appropriate behaviour management and treatment strategy.Dental fear and behaviour are likely to have origins which are oadly divided into personal characteristics, environmental practice. However, Schoolaged child through adolescence can also present with behavioural problems where communication cannot be established by the clinician. Reason: To determine the cause of fear of child towards a dentist and what measures can betaken to avoid this fear.
