Abstract :

Ash Guard(Benincasa hepsida) found all over india and having medicinal and economic importance . In order to optimize an alternative substrate for Bacillus sabtilis, a Proximate analysis of ash guard peel has been carried out which is a solid waste. Ash guard peels wer found to contain 93.1 % moisture containt,0.62mgg-1 organic contain, total soluble sugar 1.1 mgg-1, reducing sugar contain 0.81 mgg-1, total lipid 0.3 mgg-1,total protein content 12.5 mgg-1, and total phenol 5.17 mgg-1. The results indicating that the ash guard peels are rich in proteins, phenol and sugar content. So due to these content the ash guard peel can be a good substrate for growth of microorganisms like Bacillus species.
