BIOLOGICAL SPECTRUM OF VEGETATION IN MAHARAJA KRISHNAKUMARSINHJI BHAVNAGAR UNIVERSITY CAMPUS , BHAVNAGAR. GUJARAT, INDIA

Abstract :

Biological spectrum or life form represent the adaptation of plant species regarding to Climate condition in an area. Biological Spectrum and seasonal fluctuations considerably influence the pattern of vegetation distribution. The present paper about biological spectrum of vegetation in Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar University campus , located in Bhavnagar city of Gujarat, India, Floristic survey and observation of position of renewing bud done in the year of 2012 to 2015. A total 347 Genera 490 plant species belonging to 97 families of Angiosperms were recorded . These are include 242 herbs (49 %), 62 shrubs (13 %), 14 undershrubs (3 %), 119 trees (24%), Climbers 35 (7 %) and twiners 18 (4 %) . As per Raunkier’s Life form classes and percentage distribution was showed that 127 species comprised of Phanerophytes (36.53%) , 185 species of Therophytes (37.75%), 14 species of Cryptophytes(2.85%) , 35 species of Hemicryptophytes (7.15%) and 77 species of Chamaephytes ( 15.72% ) .
