Abstract :

Introduction: Ischemic heart disease (IHD) is a condition in which there is an inadequate supply of blood and oxygen to a portion of the myocardium; it typically occurs when there is an imbalance between myocardial oxygen supply and demand. Clinical manifestation of CHD usually occurs in the form of Acute myocardial infarction, Unstable angina, Stable Angina and Sudden death. Coronary heart disease is the greatest cause of death among women2,3. Aim & Objectives: Study the clinical profile of ST elevation AMI in females which included age, risk factors, symptoms, family history, complications and outcome. The study was carried out in a tertiary care hospital on patients hospitalized in period of 2012–2014. Results & Discussion: Post menopausal women are more prone to IHD. Majority of females have multiple risk factors like DM, HT, obesity and hypercholesterolemia. Incidence of DM and HT has significantly increased owing to sedentary lifestyle as compared to past.
