Abstract :
The aim of the study was to compare the cost effectiveness among conventional antipsychotics, haloperidol and thioridazine with newer agents, olanzapine and risperidone in the treatment of stable schizophrenic patients. The results of this analysis showed that direct medication cost of conventional antipsychotics was much higher as compared to newer ones. Newer antipsychotics were found to be more cost effective in the treatment of schizophrenia.
