Factors affecting alcohol relapse among alcoholic clients at Tertiary care Hospital, Karad

Abstract :

Alcohol consumption has health and social consequences. One of the most distressing problems among alcoholic is the high rates of relapse to alcohol use following periods of abstinence. Objectives included assessment of factors contributing to the relapse of alcoholism and its with socio–demographic variables. It is a non experimental survey design with 100 alcoholic patients with relapse. Data was collected by open ended interview technique. Results: Craving (31%) was the most crucial factor to re start alcohol intake followed by mixing with old alcoholic friends (21%), loss of confident in control of alcohol intake (19%). maximum samples were belongs to 31–45 age group (50%), employed (76%), passed 12th standard (45%). No demographic variables show any significant association with the factors responsible for relapse of alcoholism.
