This study was done to assess the fetal and maternal complications in the women undergone CS at a tertiary care hospital. Methodology: This study was conducted at Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), a tertiary care hospital in Puducherry. Required data including feto–maternal complications were recorded for all the women delivered by cesarean section during the study period. Results: Among 658 women delivered through caesarean section, 8.2% had one or more feto–maternal complications. Complications were experienced by 16 (2.4%) mothers and 41 neonates (6.2%). Post–partum hemorrhage (81%) was the most maternal common complication. Among 41 neonates with complications, 95.2% had poor APGAR score. Meconium aspiration (31.7%) and tachypnea of neonates (43.9%) were common neonatal complications. Three neonates (7.3%) had birth injury. Conclusion: The CS is associated with quite large number of feto–maternal complications. Strategies to reduce the common complications following CS are required.
