Innovations in Consumer Finance in India

Abstract :
India’s consumer market is riding the crest of the country’s economic boom. Driven by a young population with access to disposable incomes and easy finance options the consumer market has been throwing up staggering figures. The market share of MNC in consumer durables sector is 65%. MNC’s major target is the growing middle class of india. MNCs offer superior technology to the consumers where as the Indian companies compete on the basis of firm grasp of the local market, their well acknowledged ands, and hold over wide distribution network. In view of this changing landscape, we look at the three major drivers of growth in consumer finance : auto finance, housing finance and consumer durable finance. This paper discusses the trends in each of these area as well as the short comings which are slowing down growth.
