Abstract :
The study is designed to screen the presence of various secondary metabolites and to determine the antimicrobial and antifungal activities of red and white seeds of Aus precatorius. The impact of extracts of red and white seeds of Aus precatorius on several bacterial strains were assayed by Agar well diffusion method. Antifungal effects of white seed extract were also assayed by Agar well diffusion method. Phytochemical screening showed the presence of various secondary metabolites like alkaloid, saponin, flavanoids, tannins, steroids, terpenoids and reducing sugar in mild to moderate degree. Both red and white seed extracts of Aus precatorius showed antibacterial activity. The white seed extracts of Aus precatorius also showed antifungal activity.
