PREVALENCE OF RHINOSPORIDIOSIS IN OUR REGION

Abstract :

Rhinosporidiosis is a rare chronic granulomatous disease caused by Rhinosporidium seeberi. Diagnosis is made on clinico–pathological basis. It is an endemic disease in India,highest number of cases are reported from southern states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu which are on either side of Western Ghats and is not uncommon in our region of Costal Andhrapradesh(AP) . This study was conducted to know the prevalence of this disease in patients coming from Vizag,Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts of Andhra Pradesh.
