Promising novel urinary protein biomarkers for assessing drug induced acute kidney injury:A Review

Abstract :

Progressionofkidneydiseasefrommildormoderatetoendstagemaybepreventedifitisdetectedataveryearlystage.Sensitivityordiagnosticvaluesofallconventionalbiomarkersarepoor,unreliableandtheirdelayedresponseoftendeliveredfalse–positiveorfalse–negativeresults,whichfinallyleadtoalatedetectionofrenaldamage.Developmentofomicstechnologyleadstotheidentificationofseveralurinaryproteinbiomarkersandtranscriptionalbiomarkerswhichenableearlierdetectionofkidneyinjury.Urinaryproteinbiomarkersshowgoodpredictivepowerandhavegreaterbenefit,becauseofeasyavailabilityofurine.Severalurinaryproteinbiomarkershavebeenidentifiedanddemonstratedsuperiorityindetectingkidneyinjurythanconventionalparameterslikeserumcreatinine(SCr),bloodureanitrogen(BUN),etc.Thesepromisingexperimentalbiomarkersofkidneydamagerequirefurtherconfirmationof their useinroutineclinicaluse
