Dr. Sathiyamoorthy Jothy, Dr Muthuraj Subramanian

Abstract :

Tumours arising from the peripheral nerve sheath tumours are categorized into benign and malignant tumours. Benign nerve sheath tumours are neurofioma and schwannoma. Peripheral nerve sheath tumours account for nearly 12% of benign and 7%–8% of malignant soft tissue neoplasms.1,2 Among the imaging study, MRI play a vital role in the accurate identification and characterization and differentiation from the adjacent areas of inflammation. On MRI, tumours are originate from the peripheral nerve sheath are seen as fusiform lesions with low to intermediate signal intensity on T1W images and high signal intensity on T2W images. In this study, we can identify the imaging the technic which is most useful for localizing and characterizing the benign tumours of peripheral nerve sheath l and we assess the benign peripheral nerve sheath tumours such as neurofioma, schwannoma, paraganglioma and ganglioneuroma
