Abstract :

A rainfed field experiment was conducted to study the influence of NPK, FYM and Zn application on baby corn maize (Zea mays L. sacharata). Treatments combinations consist of FYM, NPK and Zn which were combine in different ratios solely and in combinations. Parameters recorded were plant height, number of leaves, cob length and number of grains. Data collected were statistically analysed and results obtained indicated that the best result recorded was with the combination of 100% NPK (in a ratio of 120:60:60) + 100% FYM(10 t/ha) +100% Zn (20 kg/ha).The outcome of the results revealed significant ( p˂0.05) effects due to treatments on all the parameters studied. The results presented therefore suggest that application of NPK at 100% along with FYM at 100% and Zinc at 100% would be highly beneficial for sustainable baby corn production and maintainance of soil fertilityof the soils of the study area.
