Role of tulsi in systemic and oral disease– an overview

Abstract :

Nature has bestowed on us a rich botanical wealth and different types of plants grow in different parts of world. The medicinal plants are widely used by the traditional medical practitioners for curing various diseases. In traditional systems of medicine, different parts of Ocimum sanctum Linn (known as Tulsi in Hindi), have been recommended for the treatment of various diorders. Although because of its great therapeutic potentials and wide occurrence in India , a rational approach to this traditional medical practice with modern system of medicine is, however, not much available. This paper reviews the therapeutic potential of this plant in the treatment of various systemic and oral disorders.
