Abstract :

Primary squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the thyroid is a very rare entity which comprises only 1% of all malignant tumours of the thyroid gland. Herein we report a 69 years old Moroccan female with 6 months history of progressive neck swelling and hoarse voice with a recent rapid increase in size and associated with pressure symptoms. There was massive enlargement of the thyroid. A palliative thyroidectomy was done leaving the residual tumour behind. She received EBRT 68Gy in 34 fractions; there was progression of disease and patient died 10 months after completion of radiotherapy.
