Abstract :

In this study the total patients admissions were 215 cases in King Fahad Teaching Hospital is a tertiary public hospital located in the center of Qassim region. One hundred thirty five in the O/P (Out patients) and 80 in the I/P(In patients). 120 (55.8%) were males and 95 (44.2%) were females.M:F ratio was 1.26:1.Age range from 18 up to 85 years old (the mean 34.6 years) distribution of patients in O/P and I/P,clinical symptoms of all patients were (chest pain) 45.6%, Arrhythmias30.2%,fatique 17.2%, others 7%. Echocardiography, and cardiac computed tomography (CCT) are the primary modalities used for noninvasive cardiac imaging in patients with CAD. Nuclear scintigraphy is used in selected circumstances. In16 cases of patients account 7.4% confirmation is done for them by catheterization. The final diagnosis which is done by echocardiography 11 out of 16 account 68.8% cases coronary stenosis, for other 5 (31.2%) there is variability in echocardiographic findings, but with CT scan 9 (56.25%) cases coronary stenosis, other 7 (43.75%) slightly low results compare with echocardiography. Etiological diagnoses in O/P and I/P were CAD (Coronary artery disease) 54(25.10%), HF (heart Failure) 41(19.1%),VHD (Valvular heart disease), 36(16.7%), RHD(Rheumatic heart disease),34(15.8%), Arrhythmias 26 (12.10%), Others 24(11.20%) . CAD peaked in middle–age (41–60), in the fifth and sixth decade of life. Myocardial infarction and hypertensive heart diseases (HHD) peaked in age(41–50) late middle–aged, in the fifth decade of life. The heart diseases representing 10 (4.7%) deaths out of 215 patients during the study period as general, however HF (heart Failure) was responsible for 40% of total mortality of heart diseases, cardiac arrest and MI represented 30%, Rheumatoid heart diseases represented RHD 20% and VHD 10%.
