Study of Immunological Parameters from the Serum of Rabbits Exposed to Chlorpyrifos Pesticide
P. Parmar, D. K. Kocher
Abstract :
Laboratory synthesized antigen/ hapten–BSA conjugate of commercially available chlorpyrifos, CPF (Eldrin–20) was intra–dermally administered to rabbits at fortnightly intervals. Detection of immunoglobulins and circulating immune complexes levels in the serum of immunized rabbits showed their maximum production at 30 days post immunization (DPI) i.e after two injections of CPF–antigen, however their level in the serum of control and vehicle rabbits showed statistically non significant change from 0 to 75 DPI. Appearance of line of precipitation/reactivity bands between the hyperimmune serum and CPF–antigen in double immunodiffusion test confirmed the production of antichlorpyrifos antibodies specifically against the injected chlorpyrifos antigen.
