Synthesis and Characterization of Poly(aniline–co–sulfamethazine)

Abstract :

Poly(aniline-co-sulfamethazine) was prepared by electrochemical and chemical oxidative polymerization. The copolymer thin film of aniline with sulfamethazine on glassy carbon electrode was synthesized by using cyclic voltammetry in aqueous sulfuric acid medium. The formation of copolymer, the electrochemical behavior and the structure were studied. The analogous copolymer was prepared via a chemical oxidative polymerization in 1M HCl in the presence of potassium persulphate as an oxidant. The characterization of the copolymer by IR, ¹H NMR, XRD and SEM studies reveal the formation of aniline-co-sulfamethazine in amorphous nature.
