TALUKAWISE SPATIO–TEMPORAL ANALYSIS OF RURAL MAIN CULTIVATORS IN KARNATAKA

Abstract :

 The total population of Karnataka can be divided into rural and urban to understand the role of population. The total rural population in Karnataka during 1991 census was 3,10,69,403 (60.07%), while its population was 4,49,77,201. During 2001 census, the total rural population increased to 3,48,89,033 (66.01%), while its total population was 5,28,50,562. During 1991 period the total rural working population in Karnataka was 1,44,31,584 (40%). This rural working population during 2001 census increased to 1,71,27,803 (50%).

The rural main working population in Karnataka during 1991 census was 1,29,19,726 (89.52%). During 2001 census this number increased to 1,34,62,535 (78.60%). During 1991 period the total rural main cultivators were 56,57,082 (43.79%), while during 2001 census their number increased to 59,99,419 (44.56%).
