Abstract :

The need to cover the epithelial defect has meant that a number of materials including mucosal and skin grafts are regarded as suitable for grafting in oral and maxillofacial surgery. To bypass the disadvantages of other materials such as skin, biological memanes have been suggested as options, including fetal amniotic memane. The amniotic memane has been considered a suitable tissue for allograft based on its low immunogenicity. It also possesses anti–inflammatory, anti–fiotic, and anti–angiogenic properties and also accelerates wound healing and epithelialization. Human Amniotic Memane serves as a basement memane that facilitates epithelial cell migration, reinforces adhesion of basal epithelial cells and prevents epithelial  apoptosis. This article is an attempt to review the spectrum of Human Amniotic Memane as a dressing in Oral and Maxillofacial region. We also report a case of Cervical Necrotizing Fasciitis, treated with the help of the memane and achieving primary closure with satisfactory post–operative results.
