Wild edible plants associated with the Thadou–Kuki tribe of Manipur, India

Abstract :

 An ethnobotanical survey of wild edible plants used by the Thadou–Kuki tribe of Manipur residing in the hill districts of Manipur was carried out. The information was collected from 64 informants of various ages from 12 villages of Churchandpur, Chandel, Sadar hill and Senapati districts of Manipur. A total of 48 species including 2 fungi were listed. Ethnographic data related to vernacular names,various parts used, recipes has also been recorded. Present ethnobotanical survey revealed that wild edible plants play an important role in the Thadou tribe dietary system.
