STUDY OF HOME ENVIRONMENT OF HIGHER SECONDARY STUDENTS IN KERALA

Abstract :

This study aims at finding out the differences in home environment with regard to gender and locality. Objectivesofthestudywere:(i)TocomparehomeenvironmentofHigherSecondarymaleandfemaleStudents;(ii)TocomparehomeenvironmentofruralandurbanHigherSecondaryStudents.Sampleof800HigherSecondarystudentsfromfourdistrictsofKeralawereselectedthroughrandomsamplingmethod.HomeenvironmentinventorybyDr.KarunaShankarMisrawasusedtocollectthedata.ThedatawasanalysedbyProductMomentCorrelationandZ–test.Themainfindingsare:(i)AsignificantdifferencewasfoundinhomeenvironmentofmaleandfemalehigherSecondarystudents.Itisinfavourofmalestudents.(ii)AsignificantdifferencewasfoundinhomeenvironmentofruralandurbanHigherSecondaryStudents.Itisinfavourofurbanschoolstudents.
